Kiss Fitness is a concept I (Daniel Jeal) conceived while working in the fitness industry, at the time I was working as a Fitness Manager for a local sports centre, although I enjoyed the position, I really wanted more and I guess really I wanted something I could build and help grow to enable other personal trainers to get their start in the industry. Typically personal trainers either payed expensive gym rents or worked for private studios and although certainly personal trainers had the option to go freelancer and provide mobile personal training. I saw Kiss Fitness as a flexible, convenient option for both the trainers and the clients, infrastructure and marketing for the trainers and simplicity for the client.
The Kiss Fitness logo was actually commissioned a year before we launched on the 14th July 2010, initiated with a design brief to be clean and simple reflecting the acronym of Keep It Simple Stupid, the founding philosophy and work ethic of the company. I think you'll agree the design was perfect. Initially I sat on this design and the business idea before launching with our second founder Nikki Jeal (and I should also probably say 'Wife') in the summer of 2011. Our very first client activity was a circuits session, held in our home town of Stalbridge in the Dorset Countryside, we set up the company with only a few hundred pounds pulled together from ourselves and all we could afford was a stick of cones and some resistance bands.
When I look back at this session, it was quite embarrassing and using only word of mouth advertising it was slow yet we didn't seem to mind the small numbers, it was just something we enjoyed doing. The first session I carried all out equipment in my washing basket and at the time thought nothing of it, looking back, it's a bit wired!
We've clearly come a long way from this first circuits session and now run a busy Personal Training business and a growing team of enthusiastic fitness professionals, all ready to help you reach your goals.
